My biggest passion is inspiring and changing people’s work lives – why spend a third of your life doing something you don’t love?!
I graduated from university with a degree in Creative Writing and Film Studies and dreams to become the next Rupert Murdoch. I received a full scholarship from News International to study Journalism at the top institute, Harlow College, in Essex.
Upon completion I worked for various publications, including The Guardian newspaper, before “accidentally” embarking on a career in CV writing and careers advice while serving as the Assistant Editor of a film magazine with additional responsibility to recruit staff, freelancers and volunteers.
This eventually led to me writing 7 Keys to a Winning CV: How to create a CV that gets results, which was published by Harriman House in September 2011, and later The Science of Successful Job Hunting: Practical strategies for landing ANY job you want, which came out in September 2014. Also in 2014, I had the honour of being named one of the “Top Careers Tweeters” of 2014 by Guardian Careers so if you’re on Twitter, please feel free to connect with me @mildredtalabi.
In addition to serving you here at CV Makeover Expert, I also speak, write and blog about job hunting techniques, and I train and support young people in finding work at one of the largest youth centres in the UK. I also regularly take part in live career Q&As with Guardian Careers as a CV expert, and I have a podcast on ‘The Science of Successful Job Hunting’, which you can subscribe to for free on iTunes (visit my personal website for more details).
I’m an ex-Londoner now living in Kent with my husband and our two children.
